Industry breakout

AI visibility for cosmetic and skin clinics: the 2026 numbers.

We scanned 50 Australian cosmetic and skin clinics on 30 July 2026 as part of our 300-business national study. The average clinic scores 35.2 out of 100 for AI visibility, below the national mean of 38.3, and 43% of the clinics with complete records from both engines were never named by ChatGPT or Gemini at all.

Key numbers

How 50 clinics scored, in eight numbers

Every figure below comes straight from the national dataset, filtered to the 50 cosmetic and skin clinics. Cross-engine "never named" figures are counted over the 23 clinics with complete records from both engines, because blank Gemini rows cannot be counted either way. Site checks are counted over all 50.

35.2 /100

The average clinic scores 35.2 out of 100 for AI visibility, below the national mean of 38.3. The median clinic scores 36.

43%

43% of the 23 clinics with complete records from both engines were never named once by either ChatGPT or Gemini. That is 10 clinics.

16%

16% of the 50 clinics block AI crawlers in robots.txt, the highest blocking rate of the six industries in the study. The national figure is 13%.

24%

24% of the 50 have no structured data (JSON-LD) on their site, level with the national rate of 24%.

80%

80% of the 50 have no llms.txt file, against 71% nationally. We report it as a legibility signal only: Google has said it does not use llms.txt.

71.2 /100

Clinic websites average 71.2 out of 100 for on-site AI readiness, yet the same clinics average 35.2 for AI visibility. Tidy sites, invisible businesses.

78 /100

Laser Skin & Vein Clinic in Adelaide leads the niche on 78, ahead of LLC Cosmetic in Brisbane on 67.

44.1 /100

Sydney clinics average 44.1, the best of the five cities scanned. Melbourne clinics average 27.3, the lowest.

A famous name is not a guarantee. Laser Clinics Australia was named in 4 of 5 ChatGPT buyer questions and 5 times by Gemini, the strongest anchor-brand record in the niche. Australian Skin Clinics, another national brand, was not named by either engine in any of our test questions. That is a statement about our questions on one day, not about anyone's work.

Who leads

The five most visible clinics in the scan

Top of the 50-clinic cohort by AI visibility score. These are the clinics the engines actually volunteered when a buyer-style question was asked, and their lead is earned: every one of them carries a footprint of reviews, directories and coverage the engines can find.

Anchor brands

How the recognisable clinic brands fared

The sample includes eight recognisable national clinic brands. The counts below are factual: how many of the 5 shared ChatGPT buyer questions named each brand, and how many times Gemini named it across our sweep. "No complete record" means the Gemini fields for that row are blank in the dataset, so nothing can be counted either way.

What it means

What this means for a clinic

The pattern in this data is uncomfortable but useful: the average clinic website is in reasonable shape at 71.2 out of 100 for AI readiness, and the average clinic is still close to invisible at 35.2 out of 100 for AI visibility.

The first fixes are mechanical. 16% of the 50 clinics block AI crawlers outright in robots.txt, the worst blocking rate of the six industries in the study, which means the engines cannot read those websites at all. 24% publish no structured data. Both are solvable in an afternoon, and both sit at the "necessary but not sufficient" end of the problem.

On llms.txt, keep your wallet in your pocket: 80% of clinics do not have one, but Google has said it does not use the file, so treat it as a cheap legibility signal, not a lever anyone should be selling you.

After the mechanics, it is a footprint game. Nationally, the correlation between site readiness and the per-engine visibility scores is Pearson r = 0.116 across the 137 businesses with complete two-engine records, so a tidy site alone does not get a clinic named. The engines volunteer clinics the rest of the web already talks about: reviews, directories, press, industry lists, other people's pages. The five leaders above are the proof.

If the vocabulary is new, our AI visibility glossary covers it in plain English. For what we would actually do for a clinic, see AI visibility for cosmetic and skin clinics, and for the full method, caveats and raw data behind these numbers, see the national report and its CC BY 4.0 dataset.

Questions

Common questions about the clinic data

How visible are Australian cosmetic and skin clinics to AI?
Not very. In our 30 July 2026 scan of 50 Australian cosmetic and skin clinics, the average clinic scored 35.2 out of 100 for AI visibility and the median clinic scored 36, against a national mean of 38.3 across all 300 businesses in the study. 43% of the 23 clinics with complete records from both engines were never named once by either ChatGPT or Gemini.
Which cosmetic clinics does AI name most often?
The five most visible clinics in our scan were Laser Skin & Vein Clinic in Adelaide (78 out of 100), LLC Cosmetic in Brisbane (67), The London Skin Clinic in Adelaide (64), Contour Clinics in Sydney (61) and Laser Clinics Australia in Sydney (60).
Are clinic websites holding them back with AI?
Partly. 16% of the 50 clinics block AI crawlers in robots.txt, the highest blocking rate of the six industries we scanned, and 24% have no structured data. 80% have no llms.txt file, though we report that as a legibility signal only, because Google has said it does not use llms.txt. The bigger finding is the gap: clinic websites average 71.2 out of 100 for on-site AI readiness while the clinics themselves average 35.2 for AI visibility.
Does a big clinic brand get recommended by AI automatically?
No. Laser Clinics Australia was named in 4 of 5 ChatGPT buyer questions and 5 times by Gemini, the strongest anchor-brand record in the niche. But Australian Skin Clinics was not named by either engine in any of our test questions, and Clear Skincare Clinics was named 0 times by ChatGPT and once by Gemini. That describes our questions on one day, not the quality of anyone's work.
