Free tools

Free AI visibility tools.

Four small tools that each do one real job in about a minute: check which AI crawlers your robots.txt lets in, write the questions your customers would put to an AI assistant, generate your structured data, and write an llms.txt. They run entirely in your browser, so nothing you type is sent anywhere.

Everything on this page is free to use and free to link to. No email, no account, no attribution required, apart from the study dataset, which is published under CC BY 4.0.

The tools

Four tools, and what each one will not do.

Every card says what the tool does, what it costs and where it stops. The limits sit on the card rather than three screens down the page, because a tool that oversells itself costs you more time than it saves.

Crawler access

AI crawler checker

Paste your robots.txt and see which of eleven AI crawlers you allow, which you block, and the exact rule in your file that decided each verdict. Training crawlers are reported separately from retrieval crawlers, because only one of the two decides whether you can be in an answer today.

  • No email
  • Runs in your browser

What it will not do

It reads only the text you paste. It does not fetch your site, it does not tell you what your file ought to say, and robots.txt is a request rather than a lock, so no file can force a crawler to obey it.

Test questions

Buyer question builder

Say what your business does and where it works, and get up to 25 buyer questions grouped by what each one tests: direct recommendation, comparison, problem-solving, local intent, price, trust and category discovery. Paste them into ChatGPT and Gemini and check by hand whether you get named.

  • Runs in your browser

What it will not do

The questions come from templates rather than a model, so they are not written for your specific business and an unusual category can read stiffly. None of them will ever contain your name, by design. It does not ask the assistants for you and it does not score what comes back.

Structured data

Business schema generator

Fill in your details and get valid Organization or LocalBusiness JSON-LD, with Australian states, opening hours, areas served and the sameAs list that ties your profiles together. Copy it or download it, then paste it into your site.

  • No email
  • Runs in your browser

What it will not do

It will not make AI recommend you. Across the 137 businesses in our study with complete records from both engines, site readiness tracked visibility at r = 0.116. It does not read your live page, it does not run Google's Rich Results Test for you, and it publishes nothing on your behalf.

Site legibility

llms.txt generator

Enter your site name, a one-line summary and your key pages, and get a correctly formatted llms.txt to copy or download. The preview is the exact file you will get, and it updates as you type.

  • No email
  • Runs in your browser

What it will not do

Google has said publicly that it does not use llms.txt. In our own site readiness score the file is worth 15 points out of 100, and 71% of the 300 businesses we scanned had none at all. Publish it because it is cheap and tidy, not because it will move your visibility.

The rest of what we give away.

These were already on the site. They are gathered here so there is one page to link to when someone asks what Answerable publishes for nothing.

Open data

The 300-business dataset

Every row behind The State of AI Visibility in Australia 2026: 300 search-visible Australian businesses scanned across ChatGPT and Gemini on 30 July 2026, one business per row, every field recorded. Recompute anything we have published.

Badge kit

Scanned by Answerable

A free badge for any business that has run the scan, with the artwork and the paste-in snippet. It marks that a scan happened. It is not an endorsement and it does not display a result.

Reference

AI visibility glossary

32 AI-search terms defined in plain English. Each definition is written to stand on its own and each has a stable anchor, so you can point someone at a single entry rather than at the whole page.

  • Quoting welcome

Machine-readable

Pricing in plain markdown

The four plans and their prices as a plain text file, for anything that would rather read markdown than parse a page. The same numbers as the pricing section, in Australian dollars.

Why these are free, and why they are not the lever.

We sell AI visibility work, so read this as a firm arguing against its own easiest upsell. Our own research says the tidiness of your website is not what separates the businesses AI names from the ones it ignores. Across the 137 businesses in the study with complete records from both ChatGPT and Gemini, the correlation between a site's readiness score and its mean per-engine visibility was a Pearson r of 0.116. That is close to no relationship at all.

So these four tools do the floor work. They tell you whether AI is allowed to read you, they make your facts machine-readable, and they give you a way to check by hand what the assistants actually say about your category. All of that is necessary. None of it is sufficient. What moves the number is corroboration from sources that are not you, and nothing that runs in a browser tab can go and earn that for you.

Everything on this page is free to use and free to link to. There is no email wall, no account and no attribution requirement, apart from the study dataset, which is published under CC BY 4.0 and asks only that you credit Answerable and note any changes you make. If one of these is useful, a link is the only thing we would ask for, and we are not going to make it a condition of using them.

The method behind the numbers quoted on this page, including the scoring formula and the limits we do not claim past, is in The Receipts Engine. The study itself, with the open dataset, is The State of AI Visibility in Australia 2026.

These tools read your site. A scan reads what AI says.

Every tool on this page works on what you type into it. The free scan asks ChatGPT and Gemini real buyer questions and counts how often you are named. No email required.
