About
About Answerable
Answerable is an Australian marketing firm, based in Melbourne, Victoria, that works on AI visibility: whether AI assistants and AI search name your business when someone asks who is best. This page is the plain statement of what the firm is, what it does, how it measures, and what it will not claim.
What Answerable is
Answerable is a marketing firm in Melbourne, Australia. It works on one problem: when a customer asks ChatGPT, Gemini, Google's AI answers or Perplexity who is best in a field, one business gets named, and Answerable works to make that business the client. The work sits under the labels AI visibility, answer engine optimisation and generative engine optimisation, and it overlaps with search and website work rather than replacing it.
The path is a ladder, and a client can stop after any rung: a free scan, a $495 audit, monthly monitoring at $199, and custom fix work priced to the gaps. Prices are in Australian dollars and there is no lock-in. The AI visibility practice inside the firm trades as AI Discovery.
The operating rule is receipts over promises. Methods are proved on the firm's own portfolio of Australian websites before they reach a client, scores are counts rather than opinions, and clients own everything that gets built.

Scope
What we do
- Measure whether AI assistants name a business, by asking real buyer questions and counting the answers.
- Show who is being named instead, and why.
- Fix the site-side signals: crawler access, structured data, entity clarity, the pages that answer the questions buyers actually ask.
- Build the off-site corroboration that decides whether an assistant trusts the claim.
- Re-scan on the same questions and publish both dates and both raw counts.
Limits
What we do not do
- Promise a score, a ranking or a mention. No firm can promise what an assistant will say.
- Claim to scan engines we do not scan. The score covers ChatGPT and Gemini, and nothing else counts towards it.
- Post fake reviews, seed fake discussion, or build networks of sites that cite each other.
- Keep the work. Clients own the pages, the markup and the accounts.
- Hide the method. The scoring formula and its limits are published.
Method
How we measure, in brief
A score that cannot be checked is an opinion. Ours is a count, and the counting works like this:
- We put buyer-style questions to ChatGPT and Gemini, the kind a customer types when they are choosing rather than researching.
- We store the full answers, so the evidence still exists after the answer changes.
- We count mentions of the business by regular expression over those stored transcripts. A model is never asked to grade the business, because a model asked to score is a model that can be flattered.
- We report the raw counts and the dates alongside the score, so anyone can recompute it.
Site readiness is a separate, automated check of crawler access, structured data, meta basics and llms.txt. It is scored separately on purpose, because in our own 300-business study a readable website explained almost none of who actually got named.
The full formula, the engines covered, and the things the score does not measure are on the technology page. The vocabulary is defined in the glossary.
Research
What we have published
On 30 July 2026 we scanned 300 of Australia's most search-visible businesses across six industries and published the result as The State of AI Visibility in Australia 2026. Of the 137 businesses with complete records from both engines, 41% were never named once by either ChatGPT or Gemini.
The raw data is public under a CC BY 4.0 licence, as data.csv and data.json. That is deliberate: you can recompute our numbers, disagree with them, or build on them, with attribution. The headline figures are collected in citable form on the statistics page, and there are per-industry breakouts for clinics, dentists, tradies, law firms, accountants and e-commerce.
Our own numbers
We scored ourselves 29 out of 100
On 31 July 2026 we ran our own scanner over answerable.com.au. Site readiness came back four out of four. ChatGPT named us in none of the five buyer questions it was asked. The score was 29 out of 100.
That is the honest picture of a business with a well-built site and no footprint anywhere else. The markup was already correct, the research was already published, and none of it mattered, because nothing outside our own domain corroborated any of it. It is the exact failure this firm sells the fix for, and we would rather publish it with a date than describe ourselves as an authority.
The number is a baseline, not a boast. It is dated so it can be re-measured, and we will publish the re-scan on the same questions whether it moves or not.

What this page cannot say yet
Three facts a reader is entitled to, and the reason each one is missing. They will be filled with real records rather than placeholders.
-
The people
No founder or team member is named on this site yet. A named human with a real, checkable profile is worth more than any claim a company can make about itself, and it is the right way to sign original research. Until that name is published with the person's consent, this page will not invent one.
-
The registration
An Australian Business Number is the strongest machine-checkable proof an Australian firm can publish about itself, and it belongs in this table and in this page's structured data. It is not listed here because it is not yet published. It will be added as a fact, not as a formatting exercise.
-
The external profiles
An entity resolves when independent sources point at the same thing. Answerable currently has no external profiles, so the
sameAsproperty in this page's structured data is empty rather than populated with links that do not exist. Empty and honest beats full and wrong.
Contact
How to reach us
Email [email protected]. We are in Melbourne, Victoria, and we work with businesses anywhere in Australia. There is no phone number published on this site yet, for the same reason there is no founder name on it yet: it will go up when it is real.
If you would rather see something before you talk to anyone, the free scan needs no email address, and the pricing file is published in plain markdown so an AI agent can read it without parsing this page.
