# Answerable > Answerable is an Australian marketing firm that makes businesses the answer AI and search recommend. Everything starts with a free AI visibility scan. Answerable helps businesses become the name that AI systems and search engines recommend. When someone asks ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity or Google's AI who is best in a field, one business gets named, and Answerable works to make sure it is the client's. The approach is receipts over promises: methods are proven on the firm's own portfolio of Australian websites before they reach clients, and clients own everything that gets built. AI Discovery is the AI visibility arm of Answerable. The firm also works across sites and search, outreach, and reporting, all under one roof. The path is simple: Scan (free), Audit ($495 one-off), Watch ($199/mo monitoring), and Fix (custom work scoped to your gaps). Prices in AUD. Contact: hello@answerable.com.au. Based in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. The canonical host is answerable.com.au; the same build also answers on answerable.pages.dev and www.answerable.com.au, and every page's canonical points at answerable.com.au. If you want the whole site as one document rather than a link index, read https://answerable.com.au/llms-full.txt. ## Who we help - [AI visibility for cosmetic and skin clinics](https://answerable.com.au/ai-visibility-for-clinics/): Becoming the clinic AI recommends, within the health advertising rules. - [AI visibility for tradies](https://answerable.com.au/ai-visibility-for-tradies/): Getting plumbers, electricians and builders named for the jobs near them. - [AI visibility for law firms](https://answerable.com.au/ai-visibility-for-law-firms/): Making a firm's expertise legible so AI puts it forward. - [AI visibility for dentists](https://answerable.com.au/ai-visibility-for-dentists/): Answering the questions patients ask AI, the AHPRA-aware way. - [AI visibility for accountants and financial advisers](https://answerable.com.au/ai-visibility-for-accountants/): Clear niche and credential signals for a high-trust field. - [AI visibility for e-commerce and retail brands](https://answerable.com.au/ai-visibility-for-ecommerce/): Structured product data and corroboration so AI recommends your products. ## Learn - [The Receipts Engine](https://answerable.com.au/technology/): How Answerable measures AI visibility. The scoring formula in full, mentions counted by regular expression over stored AI transcripts rather than generated by a model, the limits we do not claim past, and the open 300-business dataset anyone can use to recompute our published numbers. - [What is AI visibility?](https://answerable.com.au/what-is-ai-visibility/): A plain-English explainer of what AI visibility means and how to measure it. - [How to get recommended by ChatGPT](https://answerable.com.au/how-to-get-recommended-by-chatgpt/): How ChatGPT chooses businesses to name, and how to become one. - [How to show up in Google AI answers](https://answerable.com.au/how-to-show-up-in-google-ai-answers/): Where AI Overviews source their answers and how to earn a place. - [GEO vs SEO](https://answerable.com.au/geo-vs-seo/): The difference between ranking a page and being the cited answer. - [AEO vs SEO vs GEO](https://answerable.com.au/aeo-seo-geo/): What each acronym means and which one actually decides whether AI names you. - [AI visibility glossary](https://answerable.com.au/ai-visibility-glossary/): Plain-English definitions of the 32 AI-search terms that matter, written to be quoted. ## Buyer questions These three answer the questions people actually ask before they buy, and each one is argued from the 300-business dataset rather than from assertion. - [Why doesn't ChatGPT mention my business?](https://answerable.com.au/why-doesnt-chatgpt-mention-my-business/): The diagnostic. Three failure states (never named, recognised but never recommended, named with wrong facts) and six causes ranked by how often they turned up across 300 Australian businesses, with the fix order. - [Is AI visibility worth it?](https://answerable.com.au/is-ai-visibility-worth-it/): The sceptic's page, written by a firm that sells this work. What the evidence supports, why the scepticism about GEO and AEO is fair, what nobody can guarantee, the situations where you should not buy, and Answerable's own scan result of 29 out of 100. - [What AI visibility costs in Australia](https://answerable.com.au/ai-visibility-cost-australia/): Four price bands in Australian dollars, published tool list prices checked on 31 July 2026 with links to each vendor's own pricing page, Answerable's own prices, what a fair quote must contain, and the red flags. ## Answers One page per question, at a URL that matches how the question gets asked. Each page opens with a short answer that still makes sense lifted out on its own, then shows the working. Every figure below is counted over Answerable's 30 July 2026 scan of 300 search-visible Australian businesses unless another source is named on the page; the raw data is at /state-of-ai-visibility-australia-2026/data.csv under CC BY 4.0. Where nobody has measured something, the page says so rather than supplying a number. - [The answer library](https://answerable.com.au/answers/): All 31 questions in four clusters, each listed with its one-line answer, plus what each one is evidenced against. ### Finding out what AI actually says about you - [How do I check what ChatGPT says about my business?](https://answerable.com.au/answers/how-to-check-what-chatgpt-says-about-my-business/): Ask the buyer question your customers would ask, in a fresh chat, before you ask about yourself by name. The two answers measure different things and you need both. - [Why does ChatGPT recommend my competitor and not me?](https://answerable.com.au/answers/why-does-chatgpt-recommend-my-competitor/): Usually because something outside their website corroborates them and nothing outside yours corroborates you. Across our 300-business scan, on-site readiness tracked per-engine visibility at only r = 0.116. - [ChatGPT knows my business but never recommends it. Why?](https://answerable.com.au/answers/chatgpt-knows-my-business-but-never-recommends-it/): This is its own failure state, not a milder version of invisibility. It affected 26% of the 137 Australian businesses with complete records from both engines in our 2026 study. - [What is the difference between an AI recognising my business and recommending it?](https://answerable.com.au/answers/chatgpt-recognises-my-business-but-does-not-recommend-it/): Recognition only needs the engine to hold a fact about you, because your name is already in the question. Recommendation needs you in the candidate set for a question that never mentions you. 26% of the 137 complete two-engine records in our scan were recognised and never volunteered. - [ChatGPT has the wrong information about my business. How do I fix it?](https://answerable.com.au/answers/chatgpt-has-wrong-information-about-my-business/): You cannot edit the model, only the sources it reads. Correct your own site, your Google Business Profile and whichever directories still carry the stale fact, then wait for a recrawl. - [Where does ChatGPT get its information about my business?](https://answerable.com.au/answers/where-does-chatgpt-get-information-about-my-business/): From training data, from live web retrieval when it searches, and from third-party pages that describe you. Your own website is one input among several, not the authority. - [Does ChatGPT know about Australian businesses?](https://answerable.com.au/answers/does-chatgpt-know-australian-businesses/): Some of them, unevenly. Of the 300 search-visible Australian businesses we scanned on 30 July 2026, 54% were never named by ChatGPT in any answer we recorded. ### The levers, and which ones actually move - [Does schema markup help with AI search?](https://answerable.com.au/answers/does-schema-markup-help-with-ai-search/): It makes you parseable, which is necessary and not sufficient. 24% of the 300 sites we scanned carry no JSON-LD at all, yet site readiness alone barely predicted who got named. - [Do I need an llms.txt file?](https://answerable.com.au/answers/do-i-need-an-llms-txt-file/): No. It costs an hour and it makes your site legible, and 71% of the 300 sites we scanned had none, but Google has said it does not use llms.txt. Tidy, not decisive. - [Should I block AI crawlers from my website?](https://answerable.com.au/answers/should-i-block-ai-crawlers/): Not if you want to be recommended. 13% of the 300 businesses we scanned block AI crawlers in robots.txt, so the engines cannot read their websites at all. - [Does my Google Business Profile affect whether AI recommends me?](https://answerable.com.au/answers/does-my-google-business-profile-affect-ai-recommendations/): It is the record that Google surfaces read from, so for local questions it is worth getting exactly right. It is not, on its own, the reason an assistant names you. - [Do Google reviews affect whether AI recommends me?](https://answerable.com.au/answers/do-google-reviews-affect-ai-recommendations/): Indirectly. Reviews are corroboration an assistant can read and quote. No published evidence sets a review count that flips an engine into recommending you, and anyone quoting one is guessing. - [Do I need a Wikipedia page to be recommended by AI?](https://answerable.com.au/answers/do-i-need-a-wikipedia-page-for-ai-visibility/): No. Wikipedia's own notability rules exclude most small businesses and paid page creation has to be disclosed. Recognisable anchor brands did score higher in our study, 52.5 against 36.4, but the lever is corroboration anywhere credible. - [How do I write a page so AI can quote it?](https://answerable.com.au/answers/how-to-write-a-page-so-ai-can-quote-it/): One question per page, and a self-contained answer of about 40 to 70 words in the first block. Test it by deleting everything else and checking the answer still stands up. - [How do I rank number 1 in ChatGPT?](https://answerable.com.au/answers/how-do-i-rank-number-1-in-chatgpt/): You cannot, because ChatGPT has no ranking. Every answer is generated fresh for that conversation, so there is no ordered list to reach the top of. The target that replaces rank is being named at all, and named consistently. - [Is AI visibility just SEO with a new name?](https://answerable.com.au/answers/is-ai-visibility-just-seo-with-a-new-name/): Partly, and anyone selling it as a wholly new discipline is overselling. But it is not a pure rebrand: site readiness averaged 74.9 out of 100 while correlating just r = 0.116 with being recommended, across the 137 businesses with complete records from both engines. ### Measuring it without fooling yourself - [What is a good AI visibility score?](https://answerable.com.au/answers/what-is-a-good-ai-visibility-score/): On our published scale, 70 and above is visible, 35 to 69 is partly visible and under 35 is weak. The Australian average across 300 businesses is 38.3, median 36. - [Which Australian industry has the worst AI visibility?](https://answerable.com.au/answers/which-australian-industry-has-the-worst-ai-visibility/): Tradies, of the six industries we measured. 76% of the tradie businesses with complete two-engine records, 16 of 21, were never named once by ChatGPT or Gemini, on the lowest mean score in the study at 29.8 against a national mean of 38.3. - [Why do I get a different answer every time I ask ChatGPT?](https://answerable.com.au/answers/why-do-ai-answers-change-every-time-i-ask/): Because answers are generated fresh with sampling, and live retrieval pulls different sources each run. One answer is an anecdote. Use a fixed question set and count across repeats. - [How do I track traffic from ChatGPT in Google Analytics?](https://answerable.com.au/answers/how-to-track-chatgpt-traffic-in-google-analytics/): Segment session source for chatgpt.com, perplexity.ai, gemini.google.com and copilot.microsoft.com. Expect it to undercount: a buyer shown your name who then searches it leaves no AI referral behind. - [How much is a ChatGPT mention worth?](https://answerable.com.au/answers/how-much-is-a-chatgpt-mention-worth/): Nobody has credibly measured it and we hold no attribution data of our own, so any dollar figure you are quoted is invented. Work out your own instead: gross profit per closed job, times close rate, times the enquiries you attribute to AI. - [How do I know if AI visibility work is actually working?](https://answerable.com.au/answers/how-do-i-know-if-ai-visibility-work-is-working/): Count how often you are named, on a fixed question set, on a fixed cadence, and hold the questions still while you change the inputs. Referral traffic alone will miss most of the effect. - [How often should I check my AI visibility?](https://answerable.com.au/answers/how-often-should-i-check-my-ai-visibility/): Monthly for most businesses, weekly while you are actively working on it. Checking more often than that mostly measures the run-to-run noise rather than any change you made. ### Timing, scope and what nobody can promise - [How long does it take to show up in ChatGPT?](https://answerable.com.au/answers/how-long-does-it-take-to-show-up-in-chatgpt/): Anything reached by live retrieval can change within days of a recrawl. Anything held in training data will not move until a model is retrained, and nobody outside the labs can date that. - [How often does ChatGPT update what it knows about my business?](https://answerable.com.au/answers/how-often-does-chatgpt-update-what-it-knows-about-my-business/): There is no single update cycle. Live retrieval can reflect a change as soon as your page is crawled again, while the training corpus does not move until a new model is trained. No vendor publishes a schedule for either. - [Can you guarantee ChatGPT will recommend my business?](https://answerable.com.au/answers/can-you-guarantee-chatgpt-will-recommend-my-business/): No, and no honest firm will. The answer is generated fresh each time, there is no ranking lever to buy or pull, and the models change without notice. What can be committed to is measurement you can reproduce and work defined in advance. - [Should I optimise for ChatGPT or Gemini?](https://answerable.com.au/answers/should-i-optimise-for-chatgpt-or-gemini/): Do the work once, for both, and measure both. Gemini scored the same business higher than ChatGPT for 105 of the 137 complete records in our scan, ChatGPT higher for 7, and 25 were tied. - [Does AI visibility work for a new business with no reviews and no backlinks?](https://answerable.com.au/answers/does-ai-visibility-work-for-a-new-business/): The work is the same but the honest starting point is lower, because being named runs on corroboration you do not have yet. Build the citable sources before the markup. - [How many Australians actually use AI to find businesses?](https://answerable.com.au/answers/how-many-australians-use-ai-to-find-businesses/): Nobody should quote a round number here without naming who measured it and when. This page gives the published Australian survey figures with the research house and date attached, plus the supply side we counted ourselves. - [Should I hire an agency or buy an AI visibility tool?](https://answerable.com.au/answers/should-i-hire-an-agency-or-buy-an-ai-visibility-tool/): Buy a tool if you only need to know where you stand. Hire someone if you need the position to change. A monitoring tool measures: it does not write pages, correct your business data or earn a mention on a site the models read. - [How do I choose an AI visibility agency?](https://answerable.com.au/answers/how-do-i-choose-an-ai-visibility-agency/): Judge them on evidence you can check: a published method, the raw data behind any statistic they quote, and the actual AI answers behind a client result. Any guarantee of a ranking or a placement is disqualifying, because no supplier controls what a model generates. ## Original research - [The State of AI Visibility in Australia 2026](https://answerable.com.au/state-of-ai-visibility-australia-2026/): 300 Australian businesses scanned across ChatGPT and Gemini on 30 July 2026.
